"Most of my friends will tell you that I am a very organized person. However, I would argue that I’m not! I am to a point, but I never feel like I am getting it all done like I should be. Then I received The Busy Woman’s Planner for review - it is definitely heaven-sent! I’ve tried using day planners before, but just never succeeded in using them long-term. I do not think that will be the case with this planner."

Candles by Homestead Originals

I love to support work-at-home moms and you will see me recommend various websites throughout my pages. I will try to place the business information on appropriate pages. Because I love to light candles in my living room, I'm going to list candle companies on these pages! I can highly recommend candles from Homestead Originals. I have several in my home and they burn clean, light smelling - not overwhelming, and for a very long time! Their candles are made from soy and so do not emit toxins as they are burning. They sell all sizes, shapes and prices for all budgets. Try a Homestead Original candle today!

Some Favorite Home Organization Tips!

The main key to keeping a home organized is having space FOR everything! We run our home using the "one year" rule ... if we haven't worn it, played with it, etc. for one year, then we either yard sale it or donate it. This goes for clothes, toys, some books, and anything in the garage that we've saved for "later." If you don't have space or enough storage for all of the items that you CANNOT get rid of, then you have to come up with creative ways to store these items.

I highly recommend putting those nice Closet Maid-type organizers in EVERY closet in the home. They will give you storage space for the entire 8 foot height of the interior walls! We use the top shelves that are hard to reach for long-term storage and items we don't use often. Just keeping the one pole in the closet does NOT make good use of the space. These organizers aren't cheap, but budgeting for them and installing them one at a time is a wise use of your money! We've installed them in ALL of the homes we had lived in and they are a great selling feature if you ever have to move.

Baskets, baskets EVERYWHERE! I have all sizes and types of baskets in every room of the house. They are under my dining room buffet table holding magazines that I don't want to get rid of - this was wasted space before! I have a basket on top of the toilet holding "reading material" I have baskets on the kitchen counter to contain the clutter that tends to migrate there! I have a basket near my fireplace (which is next to the TV) holding DVD's the kids watch often. Baskets are cheap items at yard sales, so look for ways you can use them in your home.

In my pantry, I group similar items together. This helps me know when I'm running low on spaghetti sauce, peanut butter, or cereal. In my closet, I hang my clothes up in color order ... (very obsessive, I know, but then I know when a shirt I want to wear is in the dirty basket) ... all of the blue shirts/pants are together, etc. This also makes it easy to find a quick outfit in the morning!

Here's a link to a Home Management Binder that looks really useful! Well, those are my basic tips ... I'll post more later!

It is my hope that you will find something useful here on my site!
I currently enjoy the privilege of being able to stay at home
to homeschool my children and I am always striving to be
the best caretaker for my precious family.
