"Most of my friends will tell you that I am a very organized person. However, I would argue that I’m not! I am to a point, but I never feel like I am getting it all done like I should be. Then I received The Busy Woman’s Planner for review - it is definitely heaven-sent! I’ve tried using day planners before, but just never succeeded in using them long-term. I do not think that will be the case with this planner."

Candles by Homestead Originals

I love to support work-at-home moms and you will see me recommend various websites throughout my pages. I will try to place the business information on appropriate pages. Because I love to light candles in my living room, I'm going to list candle companies on these pages! I can highly recommend candles from Homestead Originals. I have several in my home and they burn clean, light smelling - not overwhelming, and for a very long time! Their candles are made from soy and so do not emit toxins as they are burning. They sell all sizes, shapes and prices for all budgets. Try a Homestead Original candle today!

This is the HUGE wall of books in our home - 7'x 12.5' of books!
(and this isn't all as books are scattered throughout our home!)

Organizing Books and Bookshelves!

As you can see above, I have A LOT of books ... here are some tips for taming the book monster.

- put books together by subject matter; all science books together, all art books together, etc.

- for History books, put them on the shelf in chronological order beginning from ancient history through present day. This is key for my children to be able to find a book on the topic that they are interested in now!

- shelve books together by author or series. I love Jan Brett and collect her beautifully illustrated books and they are all together on the shelf so that I can find them easily. In addition, our Royal Diary books are together as are The Little House series, etc.

- Store books in unique places .... in stacks on the floor under the buffet or china cabinet. Turn your dining room into a Dining room/library. I LOVE the look of dining rooms that also have walls of books in them - so chic!

... if you homeschool ...

- If you have the space in your home, put a shelf that will hold ONLY the books you are needing for several weeks at a time. For example, when we studied the Middle Ages, I pulled from the main shelves the books that we were needing each week. When we were done with them, they went back to the main shelf and I brought more books down for the next week.

- Each child has their curriculum books and other homeschooling supplies in their desk. I have all of the teacher manuals on MY desk for ease of looking up answers and grading papers. The kids file away their papers in notebooks kept in their desks.

- Keep all art supplies and science materials in their own labelled boxes.

It is my hope that you will find something useful here on my site!
I currently enjoy the privilege of being able to stay at home
to homeschool my children and I am always striving to be
the best caretaker for my precious family.
