"Most of my friends will tell you that I am a very organized person. However, I would argue that I’m not! I am to a point, but I never feel like I am getting it all done like I should be. Then I received The Busy Woman’s Planner for review - it is definitely heaven-sent! I’ve tried using day planners before, but just never succeeded in using them long-term. I do not think that will be the case with this planner."

Candles by Homestead Originals

I love to support work-at-home moms and you will see me recommend various websites throughout my pages. I will try to place the business information on appropriate pages. Because I love to light candles in my living room, I'm going to list candle companies on these pages! I can highly recommend candles from Homestead Originals. I have several in my home and they burn clean, light smelling - not overwhelming, and for a very long time! Their candles are made from soy and so do not emit toxins as they are burning. They sell all sizes, shapes and prices for all budgets. Try a Homestead Original candle today!

... Basic Tips ...

I am a bit obsessive-compulsive about having things neat, orderly and organized. However, I find that it is easier for me to get through my days if I have some semblance of a routine and basic organization in my home. First off, let me say that I am not the best housekeeper. I hate to dust and mop floors - both chores are always WAY overdue!

I tend to focus more on keeping the kitchen clean, the bills paid, the house picked up, and the laundry folded and put away. I read so many messages from homeschooling moms saying they need help keeping up with the housework. Here are some strategies that have worked for me:

1. Make a list of what chores are most important to you. Focus on those first. If I can keep up with my top priorities, then I don't worry too much about the other chores (like dusting!) that don't get done as often.

2. Have kids get involved whenever possible. I have been a bit lax in this area, but am working on it. Oftentimes, it's just easier for me to do something myself than to wait for the kids to do it. However, this isn't training them how to take care of a household when they are out on their own, is it?

3. My biggest complaint is about CLUTTER! I can't stand to have lots of "stuff" lying around. The kids and I have mini clean-ups throughout the day and my husband is WONDERFUL about cleaning up whatever is needed - he is affectionately known as "CinderFELLA" - My biggest focus is on having a final clean-up after dinner and/or before bed. When I wake up to a clutter-free home, my day just starts off better.

4. Laundry - I purchased a 3-way sorter from WalMart and everyone is required to sort their laundry as it needs washing (whites, darks and reds). I do laundry as the bins fill up and dump the clean laundry directly on my bed after coming out of the dryer. That way I *have* to fold it and put it away before I go to bed! Usually, I do all of the laundry, dump it on the bed and then the kids and I have a mad-dash folding session after school is finished. They fold and put away their own clothing. Sheets and towels get washed on Fridays.

5. Paying Bills - I pay ALL of the bills on the day that my dh gets paid, no matter when they are due. Most of my bills are automatically deducted from our account which saves me from having to remember to mail in checks. Basically, I just deduct out ALL of the amounts on payday and then I do not have to think about it anymore!

... My REAL Living Room! ...

Here is a picture of my living room.
It is immediately to the left of the foyer.
We get lots of afternoon sun here, but it is still pleasantly lit during the day.
This is where we do a lot of our reading for school.

In this picture, you can see how the living room is close to my craft area.
I like being with my family when I'm crafting.

It is my hope that you will find something useful here on my site!
I currently enjoy the privilege of being able to stay at home
to homeschool my children and I am always striving to be
the best caretaker for my precious family.
