- Positive Things about the LA Weight Loss Plan -
January 12, 2007 - Just as their are good things about eating healthy and getting to a good weight, so there are bad things about the methods used to accomplish this goal. I do have a few problems with the LA Weight Loss program, although they number just a few. However, I think it's fair to share them as they may help someone decide whether the program is good for them or not. Here are some negative things that I have experienced while on the plan:
- I'm sick of drinking 64 oz. of water! My counselor tells me to shoot for a minimum of 48 oz., but even this is a lot when you aren't used to it. I miss drinking iced tea and diet drinks! There just isn't enough time in the day to consume 64 oz. of water -PLUS- the other drinks that I like.
- I'm honestly not sure the supplements are worth it. I haven't been taking them for about a month now and I haven't seen much difference. Of course, I haven't lost any weight in the last month either! I will begin taking the supplements again for the next month and see if I experience a difference in loss. These supplements have to be taken 30-60 minutes before eating a meal and, if you are taking multiple supplements, you have to time them appropriately as some of them CANNOT be taken at the same time as others! It's a bit confusing and I've had to use a kitchen timer to keep me on track.
- Dairy is limited to ONE serving daily. With the recent studies done at UT/Knoxville that have shown that THREE servings of dairy daily DOES help with weight and fat loss plus the fact that I am a woman, I believe this is too low.
- The counselors are not that concerned whether you are exercising or not. My mom is not and not ONE counselor has recommended that she do anything about it! I believe that exercise should be encouraged b/c after the weight is gone, most people are going to need to exercise to keep it off. Beginning the habit of daily exercise, just 30 minutes of walking, should be done while ON PLAN and not later so that new habits are formed earlier.
... I'll add more as I think of them ...

It is my hope that you will find something useful here on my site! I currently enjoy the privilege of being able to stay at home to homeschool my children and I am always striving to be the best caretaker for my precious family.
