When I first began homeschooling, I came across information on how to homeschool in a gentler way. It was referred to as "the Charlotte Mason method." Basically, the child is given shorter lessons, but subjects are taught using "living books" ... this basically means NOT using textbooks, but using books which bring a topic to life for the child. This method also incorporates nature study as a way to learn about science and the world around you. Memorization is important as is the ability of the child to narrate back what he has learned. There is LOTS of information on Charlotte Mason homeschooling and I've attempted to bring you the "best of the best" information to this one page. I know there is more CM Curriculum that I need to list so check back later for updates.

Charlotte Mason-friendly Curriculum

You may have seen many of these listed on the History Curriculum page. I'm including them here because they also belong on this page!

Ambleside Online - A free curriculum designed to be as close as possible to the curriculum that Charlotte Mason used in her own PNEU schools. Our goal is to be true to Charlotte Mason's high literary standards. Ambleside Online uses the highest quality books and costs no more than the cost of texts. The curriculum uses as many free online books as possible and there is no cost to use this information.

Apologia's Elementary Science Curriculum - this is the author's personal website and she has a lot of extras to go with the books she has written. You can view the Apologia website here.

Biblioplan - "BiblioPlan is a family-friendly guide designed for a chronological study of world history. Our plans integrate quality historical literature with Biblical and secular history in a format that is easy to follow and requires minimal parent preparation. It is designed so that all the children you are schooling are studying the same period of history at the same time, and doing so at their own level."
