My daughter is a wonderful person! She is hearing impaired, but she doesn't
let that get in the way of much. I can't believe that she is now in high school ... where has the time flown? Her interests include reading books about dragons and fantasy
teaching herself to draw using Paint Shop Pro, and creating art through drawing or origami or
whatever other method she is interested in at the time. I know that she will enjoy making new friends at the high school homeschool co-op. She has (fortunately!) inherited her mother's distaste for clutter!
She is the "mom" to her cat, Mittens, who loves to nap on her bed while
she completes her schoolwork. Her favorite movies are The Lord of the Rings series, Pirates of the Caribbean series, The Last Samurai and the Harry Potter series. She is a voracious reader
and is learning karate. She hopes to earn her junior black belt in a few years. My husband's nickname for her is "Sunshine" and that totally describes her! She is a wonderful young woman and I look forward to watching her grow up in the next few years!
I really love my copy of the
Treasury of Vintage Homekeeping Skills: Collections of the Homekeeper.
This book is WONDERFUL! When my 11 y.o. daughter saw it, she went a little crazy over it and said that she wanted a copy for herself! In this little treasure is almost 250 pages of wisdom about the art of being a keeper of the home. I have ordered her a copy and want us BOTH to work on our books together! I'll fill mine out and give it to her later and she'll then be able to fill hers out and share it with HER daughter or daughter-in-law!
The book contains sections on:
Homekeeping
Hospitality
Home Duties
First Aid in the Home
Gardening
Cooking & Baking
Reserves for the Family
Handiwork
Business of the Home
Family Records
There are lots and lots of blank forms for you to copy and use in your daily routine. I will make a master copy of each of the blank forms BEFORE filling them out to pass on to my daughter.
The book is peppered with delightful black and white "old-time" sketches and ads. As I'm sitting here looking through the pages again, I'm just amazed at all that is here ... ironing tips, menus, tips for entertaining, and emergency care info. You can even learn how to embroider, crochet, knit, sew, etc. The art of keeping a home is becoming a LOST art!! Hurry and get yours for only $24.95. It truly is a bargain and will be a keepsake for your children!
It is my hope that you will find something useful here on my site!
I currently enjoy the privilege of being able to stay at home
to homeschool my children and I am always striving to be
the best caretaker for my precious family.
